I got an email newsletter this morning that stated, among other things, that Sun Palace is now open as a couples-only resort after renovations from Wilma.

The renovations look nice but I don't know a thing about Sun Palace. Who knows something good/bad about the resort?

Thanks!

I was considering SP when booking for this summer (since it has gone adult only). They have just reopened after Wilma . . . I could only find 1 review on Tripadvisor since they reopened (there may be more now) and it wasn't a shining review. They said the hotel is far from being finished and that they were stepping over construction stuff in the hotel. I think they said the food wasn't that great, either. Maybe it will improve as they work out the kinks . . .

Hi All!
I am close with a gal who was formerly the Palace Sales rep. for this part of the US (she now works for Superclubs). I asked her about the SP and she said that she had heard that the construction did not go well and they still were working on "cleaning it up" so to speak. She also said that the beach was not great at this property.
I have been quoting this resort for a lot of client's and it is not pricing out that great, which surprises me.
When client's of mine go there and I get reports, I will share:)
Thanks!

Thanks Dawn & Amy! I have heard good things in general about the Palace resorts and thought this might be another option in the future since it is couples only now. I've got no plans to book anytime soon but always on the lookout...

Hi! Palace Resorts are generally good to work with. I sell a lot of Moon Palace which is very nice (not a good beach at all) and they are very helpful with my client's. A lot of people in general who come to me think that the Palace Resorts are cheap, which they are not. However, they do a good job and the free tours are a really nice plus:):):)

Smiles,

We stopped at Moon Palace on our way to SERC last May. It looked gorgeous but HUGE. It is just up the road from SERC which doesn't have a great beach either.

I only priced ASP since its adults only and only comparing to Secrets at the time and it seemed to be about $500/week cheaper than Secrets. So I do find them to be "cheaper" but not necessarily "cheap"

Actually - I'm not sure what is "cheap" anymore in the adults only AI. Or have they ever been?

No.... I do not think that there is a "cheap" adult AI out there, unfortunately. The Punta Cana Princess is pricing out well but other than that, there are not a ton of great choices (price-wise). As soon as a client tells me that they are on a budget but do not want to be around kid's, I worry since I know it is difficult to do. I love kid's but if I am planning a trip for Mike and I, I will not go anywhere without them where they are kid's-I would just miss them way too much....:)

Royal Porto real, now Real Playa Del Carmen, is not as expensive as others.

Did you like this resort? I had a client there a few months ago, who hated it. I would love to hear some good things about this resort as it would give me another option for my client's that is affordable:)

Thanks for sharing!

I just returned from the Cancun and the Riviera Maya on Monday night.

I did visit the Sun Palace and, other than a little painting going on around the swim-up pool bar area, things looked great. Very modern-looking, very impressive.

There are two pools, one a swim-up bar. All rooms have ocean views. There is a spa.

I had lunch there and the food was very good. The service was wonderful.

The beach looked wonderful to me. It was wide, long and clean.

The resort is rather small but what I liked about it, other than couples only, is that it is on the island of Cancun. You can step out of the hotel, hop a city bus and, for a few pesos, be in the thick of the action in Cancun.

All in all, I will definitely recommend this property to my clients.
