Resort - This resort is about 25 minutes away from Cancun. I loved that it was not on a beach strip with 50 other resorts. It is pretty seculed and the only other resort next to it was Excellence. It had wonderful foliage and grounds! They really keep the place looking nice. The resort is an "outdoor" type of resort from the lobby to the reservation desk, but it is laid out very well. The marble is so clean that it almost looks wet. The resort is HUGE!! It was about a 5 minute walk to get back to our rooms but we didn't care. With all the food we ate, it was a welcoming experience.

Staff - VERY VERY FRIENDLY. I did not encounter one staff member that I didn't like. They catered to our every whim..including odd requests made by our travelling companions at the sushi restaurant. Do tip, it really goes a long way. We had staff stumbling over one another trying to get us to sit at their table. A couple of bucks goes a long way. My husband and friend went deep sea fishing one day and needed a snack to take on the boat. The wait staff went out of their way to make them burritos and pack them a pretty good size lunch to take with them. They were the most friendly people.

Rooms - Uneventful. The beds were hard as a rock and pillows were flat, all five of them. Our rooms were cleaned everyday and were turned down for most of the nights and mints were left. I like the fact that all rooms were suites so there was a little sitting area and table with two chairs. The bathrooms were pretty large and all rooms come with a bidet.

Swimming pool and beach - Pool was huge! I couldn't ask for a better one. The swim up bar was nice and I love the fact that they had little lay out areas for you all around the pool to sun bathe. My husband is fair skinned and have always worried about getting burned. Not at this resort. There are Palapas everywhere you look. We had no problem finding shade for him. The beach area, although clean and tranquil, wasn't what I had hoped for. The sand is white and I really didn't notice a lot of seaweed, but the water was not as blue as I hoped for. It was pretty murky. Lots of chairs to lay out on and lots of palapas. Good beach. If you want really blue water, I would suggest go to Cancun.

Restaurants - Breakfast buffet was not good. Food was usually cold by the time we got there. I ventured the buffet at 7:30 one morning and it still was cold. However, the other restaurants were FANTASTIC. French restaurant had to be the best. Good scallops, escargot and steaks. For desert, try the profiteroles, they're fantastic. Sushi place was good as well as the Italian. Make your reservations when you get there. The restaurants fill up fast. You can only make reservations 3 days in advance. Most of the restaurants require you to dress up. Long pants for guys. No flip flops, shorts or bathing suits. The sushi restaurant was the only one you could dress casually.

Excursions - I highly recommend the 1/2 day Mayan trip. This includes 3 ziplines, snorkling in a cenote, tubing and a purification ceremony. So worth it and it was only $90 a per person. Lunch included. Dolphin encounter was good as well.

Overall, I would most defintly go back to this resort. The weather was pretty cloudy most of the time we were there, but it never rained. Night time was cold!! Bring BUG SPRAY!!! I have about 60+ bites and they itch like hell.

They have pretty good entertainment and the lobby/bar is a great place to hang out at night. The couches are very comfortable. We noticed quite a few kids running around the resort but they didn't really bother us. They have a kid's pool so most of the kids were usually frolicking in that area. We actually laid out at that pool in the late afternoon because it was the quietest (who knew) For my point of view, it seemed they had a lot of kid's activities. There's a game room with ping pong and foosball and they even had a video game room.

I would give this resort a 4 out of 5 rating.
